1. Biden accuses Russia of genocide in Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has accused Russia of committing genocide in Ukraine. He claimed Russian invaders were trying to erase "the idea" of Ukraine. 

2. Hundreds dead as floods batter South Africa

Hundreds of people have died in South Africa after the province of KwaZulu-Natal was hit by devastating floods. More than 250 people have been killed by what officials said was among the worst storms in South Africa's history.

3. Warner Bros removes movie's reference to gay relationship for Chinese audiences

A reference to a homosexual relationship in the new Fantastic Beasts movie have been removed for Chinese audiences. Warner Bros, which produced the film, has previously claimed to be proud that its stories "represent the LGBTQ+ experience" and pledged to use its resources to "advocate for equality."

4. New York police name suspect after subway shooting

Police in New York are searching for a suspect after a subway station shooting left more than 20 people hurt. Frank R James, 62, is said to have rented a U-Haul van that was found at the scene.

5. Islamist given life sentence for murdering British MP

An Islamist terrorist has been sentenced to life imprisonment after murdering a British MP. Ali Harbi stabbed Sir David Amess to death in what a judge called a strike "at the heart of our democracy."
