1. Volcano erupts in Caribbean

A volcano is erupting in the Caribbean. More than 16,000 residents were evacuated from their homes on St Vincent after La Soufriere began emitting plumes of ash. Officials said the situation could worsen at any moment. 

2. North Korea facing hard times, dictator warns

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has said hard times are coming, comparing the country's situation to a catastrophic famine it suffered in the 1990s. Foreign observers have warned North Korea could experience food shortages and serious economic instability amid the COVID-19 crisis and international sanctions due to its nuclear program.

3. Ancient Egyptian city excavated near Luxor

A "lost golden city" has been discovered in Egypt. The 3,400-year-old settlement – known as Aten – is near the city of Luxor. Excavations began in September 2020. 

4. Mass murderer named as former NFL player

A man who murdered five people in South Carolina has been identified as former NFL player Phillip Adams. He was named as the culprit after Dr Robert Lesslie, 70; his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69; grandchildren Adah Lesslie, 9; and Noah Lesslie, 5; and worker James Lewis, 38, were found slain in Rock Hill. Adams, 32, then killed himself. 

5. Video released claiming to show monkey playing Pong with its mind

Elon Musk's computer-to-brain interface firm Neuralink has released a video purporting to show a monkey playing Pong with its mind. The company said brain signals from the monkey were sent wirelessly through an implanted device.
