Five things you need to know
1. COVID-19 guidance changes in US
Unvaccinated Americans are no longer being encouraged to quarantine after exposure to COVID-19 as part of a shift in official guidance for dealing with the virus. An epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the new advice "helps us move to a point where COVID-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives."
The update isn't a huge overhaul of the existing guidance, but it does represent an increasing focus on individuals making their own decisions about their level of risk and how they want to mitigate that risk, said Dr. Marcus Plescia, chief medical officer for the @ASTHO. pic.twitter.com/GDEd1twhzi
