1. Date set for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding

A date has been set for the highly anticipated wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The couple will be wed on Saturday, May 19th at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Markle will spend Christmas with Harry, the Queen and the rest of the royal family this year.


2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now in theatres

It’ll be hard to go anywhere today without hearing talk about Star Wars. The franchise’s latest film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, hit theatres everywhere today.


3. Newfoundland mayor dies after hunting accident

A small Newfoundland town is in mourning after its mayor was killed in a tragic hunting accident. John Hickey, the mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, died on Thursday night after accidentally shooting himself while hunting on Saturday, December 9th.


4. Eminem’s new album has hit shelves

With all the Star Wars talk today, it might be easy to forget that one of the world’s biggest music stars has released a new album. Eminem dropped his ninth album ‘Revival’ at midnight and it will certainly get mixed reviews. Many fans are calling the rapper washed up, while others are saying it’s some of his best work yet.


5. Six players cut from Canada’s world junior team

The 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship is right around the corner (December 26th to January 5th) and Canada’s roster is one step closer to being finalized after a round of cuts on Thursday. The team released six players, including the Kelowna Rockets' Kole Lind and fellow Western Hockey League players, Dennis Cholowski (Prince George Cougars) and Cody Glass (Portland Winterhawks). Logan Stanley (OHL), Jonathan Ang (OHL) and Samuel Harvey (QMJHL) were also let go on Thursday. Final cuts are likely to come after Canada's exhibition game with Denmark today.
