1. Alberta ICU patients 'double bunking,' oxygen use a concern 

 

Alberta has the highest rate of COVID-19 infections in Canada, and hospitals are feeling the pressure. With reports of “double bunking” in ICUs, and workers being told to be mindful of oxygen use, doctors are concerned there will not be enough health-care workers, and in some cases crucial supplies such as oxygen.
 

2. Thousands of people evacuated as Cyclone Burevi nears Sri Lanka

 

The tropical cyclone is expected to intensify by Wednesday evening. It is likely to cross the Sri Lankan coast late today and move closer to the Indian mainland. Ahead of the cyclone's landfall, about 75,000 people have been evacuated. 

3. Mystery monolith vanishes in Romania

 

After a sighting of a similar shiny symbol in Utah, the metal monolith spotted in Europe sparked speculation that it may be related to a mystery structure seen in the United States. 
 

4. Trump files lawsuit to disqualify more than 221,000 Wisconsin ballots

 

Trump’s team has filed a lawsuit on Tuesday morning in the Wisconsin Supreme Court that alleges voter fraud in the 2020 election. The lawsuit includes the names of county officials, including Gov. Tony Evers and Republican Congress candidate Derrick Van Orden, who said his name was used without permission. The state recently certified its election results after a partial recount.
 

5. UK approves Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and could begin vaccinations next week

 

The UK has become the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for widespread use. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said it was safe to be rolled out. Studies found the vaccine has a 95% efficacy rate. The health secretary Matt Hancock said: "The NHS stands ready to start vaccinating early next week."
