What's thought to be the third-largest diamond ever found has been put on show in Botswana. The stone weighs 1,098 carats.

3. Man hailed as a hero after rescuing baby from river

A man is being praised for rescuing a baby girl who was floating in a wooden box in the Ganges River. The 21-day-old newborn was wrapped in a red scarf and surrounded by images of Hindu gods, Gullu Chaudhary said. He added that nobody else was willing to help the child despite her cries being audible.

4. Mass murderer should have been spotted before detonating bomb in Manchester, inquiry says

The Islamist mass murderer who slaughtered 22 people in Manchester in 2017 should have been identified as a threat before he detonated his bomb, a public inquiry in the UK has found. Salman Abedi committed the atrocity in the aftermath of an Ariana Grande concert.

5. Soccer player to have heart-starting device fitted

The Danish soccer player who suffered a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 game is to be fitted with a heart-starting device, his doctors have said. Christian Eriksen, 29, is said to be "fine under the circumstances" after being defibrillated on the pitch in Copenhagen on Saturday.
