1. Two people hurt in European bear attack
Two people have been taken to hospital after a bear went on a rampage in the European nation of Slovakia. Police said they have now chased the bear back into a forest after it attacked a 72-year-old man and 49-year-old woman.

2. Trump comments spark dispute over context
The Western media has been split along party lines once again after former US president Donald Trump predicted a "bloodbath" for the American car industry if Joe Biden is re-elected this year. 3. Thefts of watches surged in 2023
Thefts of watches have tripled over the last year, according to a large international database. The Watch Register said there was a 236 per cent increase in the number of watches stolen in 2023.

5. Another volcanic eruption in Iceland
A state of emergency has been declared in Iceland after another volcanic eruption in the Land of Fire and Ice. It's the fourth such eruption on the island since December.
Hundreds of people were forced to evacuate and a state of emergency was declared, after a volcano erupted in Iceland, sending smoke and fiery ash into the sky.
