Start your day off right with five things you need to know this morning.

Five things you need to know

1. iOS 13 becomes available today

If you’re an iPhone user, you’ll likely be asked to upgrade to iOS 13 at some point today. The newest operating system update includes dark mode, a new toggle for volume, new Memoji stickers, enhanced photo editing features and plenty more. One cool feature is audio sharing, which allows iPhones to connect to two pairs of AirPods at once.

2. Pilot left stuck on high-voltage power line after fighter jet crashes

A pilot was left in a precarious situation after an F-16 fighter jet crash in France. Both pilots of the Belgian fighter jet were able to eject before the crash, but one became stuck on a high-voltage electricity line. Thankfully, he was freed by emergency workers and no one was injured. A house was damaged by the plane, however.

3. Just looking at KFC’s latest creation may give you a heart attack

KFC is testing a new product and it may look delicious, but it can’t be too good for you. It’s a fried chicken sandwich, but instead of bread you get a donut. It’s currently only available in three locations, Norfolk, Richmond and Pittsburgh, but many people have already gone out of their way to try it. The reactions...are mixed to say the least.

4. South Korean police identify serial murder suspect after more than 3 decades

DNA evidence has allowed South Korean police to make a major break in a case that’s over 30 years old. A man who’s already in prison for rape and murder has been identified as the prime suspect in the country’s most infamous cold case, the “Hwaseong murders.” It’s a good thing he’s already in prison, because the statute of limitations for the case have now expired.

5. Blue Jays win again in dramatic fashion

On Tuesday night, a ninth-inning rally, which included Cavan Biggio hitting a triple to complete the cycle, led the Toronto Blue Jays to a win over the Baltimore Orioles. On Wednesday night, the Jays entered the ninth inning down 9-5, but had more magic up their sleeves. After making it 9-6, Randal Grichuk hit a go-ahead grand slam that led Toronto to an 11-10 win.
