1. Russian men fleeing country after mobilization declared

Some men are attempting to flee Russia after the country's president ordered the mobilization of up to 300,000 soldiers to fight in the Ukraine war. The Russian government, however, has said the numbers of fighting-age males leaving the country have been exaggerated.

2. Trump and his children accused of fraud

Donald Trump and three of his children have been accused of fraud following an investigation into the Trump Organization. New York authorities allege the quartet inflated the values of their assets to get loans.

3. Man found 17 days after going missing in earthquake

A man has been found alive 17 days after he went missing during an earthquake in China. The 6.6-magnitude quake killed more than 90 people. 

4. Beer cans force closure of highway

A highway in Florida was closed on Wednesday after thousands of beer cans were spilled onto the tarmac. The spillage occurred after five semi-trailers were involved in a non-fatal crash on the road.

5. Sri Lanka inflation rate tops 70%

Sri Lanka's inflation rate has topped 70 per cent as the troubled island nation continues to grapple with its worst economic crisis in decades. Grocery prices in the country are up 84.6 per cent on last year.

And lastly...

In lighter news, characters from the Apple TV show Ted Lasso – about a hapless American man who becomes the coach of an English soccer team – will appear in the upcoming video game FIFA 23. The show's creator and star Jason Sudeikis said the news was a "dream come true."
