Ryan Shtuka was last seen leaving a party at Sun Peaks on Feb. 17, 2018, and although search parties have been active, there is still no sign of him.
In order to share his story, a group of B.C. filmmakers have come together and created a documentary.
Russell Walton, Jared Featherstone and Allan McVicar are the creators of the documentary entitled Peaks and Valleys: The Search for Ryan Shtuka.
Together, they have started creating the documentary with interviews from Shtuka’s mother and father, the Kamloops Search and Rescue and his roommate.
According to the film team, this documentary will allow the public to get to know the people involved in the search and how a town was able to come together with one goal.
The film was originally pitched to the Storyhive contest with the goal of winning a $50,000 production grant.
The winners of the grant have been determined and the Shtuka documentary will receive funding.
According to the Storyhive website, the filmmakers have until May 30, 2019, to complete the documentary.
“I am so incredibly grateful that these young filmmakers want to bring wider awareness to Ryan’s case and to continue the investigation. Let’s help them do that,” said Ryan's mom, Heather Shtuka, on Facebook.
