Donations are pouring in honour of the 21-year-old Kelowna man who died at Big White over the weekend.

Tristin Croteau passed away while snowboarding at Big White on Sunday, a loss that impacted many Kelowna residents.

“Tristin had such a genuine and impactful personality.  He was always supportive and never made anyone feel excluded or small. He was the most caring kind soul, was always filled with love and positivity to his friends and family,” wrote family friend Tony Nguyen, who created a GoFundMe in Tristin’s name.

Nguyen originally created the fundraiser to help the family with funeral expenses, but was told that the money should be used for a different cause.

According to Nguyen, the family believes the money should go to a charity that helps children who can’t afford to snowboard be able to do so.

So far, $3,226 of a $5,000 goal has been raised by 80 people in less than 24 hours.

Tristin’s funeral will take place at Everden Rust Funeral Service and Crematorium on Feb. 24 @ 10:30 a.m.
