Boo, the “world's cutest dog” with over 16 million followers on Facebook, has recently died of a “broken heart.”

According to a post on his Facebook page, Boo passed away in his sleep early in the morning of Jan. 18, joining his best friend Buddy.

Back in 2006, Boo was brought to his forever home where he lived happily with his human owners and fellow dog friend, Buddy.

Shortly after Buddy’s death one year ago, Boo showed signs of heart issues.

“We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us. He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven,” writes the public Facebook post.

Throughout his life, Boo met lots of familiar faces including Shawn Mendes, Seth Rogen and Anderson Cooper.

Boo also had a series of successful books including Boo: The Life of the World's Cutest Dog and Boo: Little Dog in the Big City.

“Boo, we love you with all our hearts and will miss you until the day we meet again. Have fun running around with Buddy and creating adorable mischief wherever you guys go,” writes the owners.

Since his passing, millions of his fans have been posting their condolences, memories and personal connections about Boo.

Boo will always be remembered for his adventurous 10 years of life.
