If you have issues with losing your poppy or getting stabbed trying to put it on, you might want to consider the new 2018 alternative.

The Royal Canadian Legion has launched a digital version of the poppy, a symbol of Remembrance Day thanks to the poem “In Flanders Fields.”

The digital version can be customized, shared and used as a profile picture on sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Like physical poppies, they’re available by donation and you can get them through the website www.mypoppy.ca until Nov. 11.

In an ideal world, you’d rep both a digital and physical poppy, doubling the amount of donations towards a good cause.

Danny Martin, deputy director of the Royal Canadian Legion, also says the digital poppy is meant to address an “increasingly cashless society,” while also making them available in parts of Canada where they’d typically be harder to find.

Poppies are meant to be worn, or now displayed online, from the last Friday of October until Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

The online version is that of a poppy inside of what looks like a silver coin, with the words “Remembrance Day 2018” and “We Remember” surrounding the flower.
