It's impossible to deny Avicii's influence on popular music over the last decade.
In many ways, the Swedish producer/DJ pioneered the EDM-pop crossover sound so common atop the charts these days.
His smash folktronica hit "Wake Me Up" created the blueprint for artists like The Chainsmokers and Major Lazer.
While Avicii often said he disliked the social scene that surrounds EDM culture, he made a massive impact both on and off the stage.
Today artists from the dance music world and beyond paid respect to the influence of Avicii’s influence and the man himself.
my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to the friends, fans and families of @Avicii :( Banter aside, nobody can deny what he has accomplished and done for modern dance music and im very proud of him.

A day where we lost a hero of ours, an inspiration and friend. There will never ever be another like him and for that reason we cry and will never forget. We posted this video cause it is a reminder of what this brilliant amazing guy did for all of us. And now he is gone. pic.twitter.com/ObfvoSgceh
