This cat is “not for the faint of heart” according to her caretakers at an animal shelter in North Carolina.

Perdita went viral on social media after the Mitchell County Animal Rescue made a post trying to find her an adopter that would understand her socially awkward demeanor.

Advertised is the post as the “world’s worst cat,” the shelter jokingly said that at first they thought Perdita was sick, however “turns out she’s just a jerk.”

Perdita may just be the new grumpy cat, and apparently will “stare into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again.”

Her likes include, “the song Cat Scratch Fever, the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile, and fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick (vet agrees...she's just a jerk).”

She hates the colour pink, kittens, dogs, children, the Dixie Chicks, Disney movies, Christmas, and “last but not least” – hugs.

“She's single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space,” says the shelter.

The post has caught quite a few people’s attention, with thousands of reactions on the post.

Apparently, Perdita is not impressed with her new found fame. The shelter shared an update saying that she is “being her spicy self.”

Despite her slightly unsocial nature, the shelter has received more than 50 applications from potential adopters, so it looks like Perdita is well on her way to finding her furever home.
