RCMP is currently investigating the death of two individuals on a property in Peachland.

Last night, around 4:30 pm, Kelowna RCMP received a complaint stating a woman had received a call from her friend saying that a homicide had taken place and they were considering self-harm.

Police attended the scene and set up a containment perimeter, and made multiple attempts to reach the individuals inside.

Just after 6 pm, the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team entered the home and located an individual dead with what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds with a weapon nearby.

A second individual was also located deceased in the home.

Police believe that the two people were known to each other and that there is no ongoing threat to the public during this time.

The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation into the original complaint, and RCMP will be working with the BC Coroner’s Service to identify the exact cause of death for both individuals.

As of now, the IIO BC is also investigating the incident in an effort to determine whether police actions contributed to the deaths.

NowMedia will continue to update the story as more information is provided.
