(UPDATE: July 29 @ 5:03 pm) - The southbound vehicle incident on the Coquihalla Highway has been cleared and the road is now open to traffic.

DriveBC estimates major delays to continue as the congestion clears.

(UPDATE: July 29 @ 4:10 pm) - The southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway remain closed after a rollover crash involving a truck and camper earlier this afternoon.

An air ambulance has reportedly come and gone from the scene, but it will still be a little while until the roadway reopens.

DriveBC estimates that the highway will reopen to traffic at 6:30 pm, but that is always subject to change.

NowMedia will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.

(Original story: July 29 @ 1:50 pm) - On a day where many are trying to get a jump on long weekend traffic, one of the main arteries between the BC Interior and Lower Mainland is closed.

The southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5) are closed due to an accident between Box Canyon and the Great Bear Snow Shed.

On the Coquihalla Road Report Facebook group, one man cited a rollover crash involving a truck pulling a trailer as the reason for the closure.

DriveBC has confirmed that emergency responders have been activated and one witness at the scene speculated that an air ambulance is en route as well.

An assessment is currently in progress and DriveBC expects the next update to come around 3 pm.

NowMedia will update this story as more information becomes available.
