Environment Canada (EC) is advising residents across the BC Interior that there is a risk of thunderstorms on Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the Boundary region, central, north and south Okanagan, the Nicola region and the South Thompson.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain,” says the weather advisory.

“The primary hazard will be slow moving thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain nearing 15 to 20 mm per hour.”

Those heavy downpours could cause flash floods and water pooling on roads throughout the Interior.

Be sure to monitor Environment Canada for future weather alerts and forecasts.
