Crash on Connector sparks fire near Merritt

A car accident on the Okanagan Connector has left one vehicle on fire on Hamilton Hill.

The fire has since spread to the grass and fire crews are on scene. 

There is no current update on the occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash or how the accident sparked the blaze. 

The fire is estimated to be about three hectares, and there are 31 firefighters on scene. 

Fire crews don’t currently have access to the proper equipment to deal with the vehicle fire and are strictly focused on fighting the grass fire. 

The fire is estimated to have started around 4:00 pm.
