Interior man arrested after allegedly threatening resident with a firearm

A man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a resident with a firearm in the BC Interior on Friday. 

According to police, at 1:53 pm, officers responded to a report of a man with a firearm threatening a local citizen in the 1400 block of Broadway South in Williams Lake. 

Investigation revealed that a person at a local business confronted a man and woman who were suspected to be under the influence of marijuana. After asking them to leave, the man allegedly made a threat and produced a firearm before departing. 

"Through a coordinated response of multiple police units and communication with the public, a male and female were located a short distance away hiding and arrested without incident," said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson. "The investigation resulted in the recovery of a firearm replica and other edged weapons."

Both the man and woman were very well known to police and remain in custody. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. 

"Offences of uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose are being recommended against the male offender. Possession of concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose are being recommended against the female."
