A minor earthquake hit the eastern Interior Saturday night.
The US Geological Survey recorded a 3.9-magnitude earthquake at about 8:39 pm.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres and about 41 km northwest of Kimberley.
Nearly 60 people reported feeling the quake.
Most of those people (36) were in Kimberley and reported a weak shaking.
Seventeen people in Cranbrook, Invermere, Duck Lake, Nelson and Fernie also reported feeling a weak shaking.
One person in Porthill, US, which is just across the border from Creston but 106 km from the epicenter of the earthquake, reported a light shaking.
The earthquake was even felt 477 km away on the South Coast with one person in White Rock reporting that they felt a weak shaking.
Earthquakes Canada and the US Geological Survey both say that quakes of this magnitude rarely cause damage.
Fortunately, the quake was weak enough not to cause any damage Saturday evening.
