The Trail RCMP was called to a very Canadian incident on Friday night.

Two local men ended up in a physical altercation, using their snow shovels as weapons, after a dispute about a recently-cleared parking spot.

According to police, a 33-year-old man had cleared a parking spot in the snow when an unsuspecting 29-year-old woman parked her vehicle there.

That led to him calling her “the b-word,” police said. When the woman’s 28-year-old boyfriend heard that, he came outside of his residence and the two neighbours got into a physical altercation.

The fight escalated to the point where both men struck each other once with their snow shovels before regressing into a lengthy stare down.

An RCMP release said that the situation deescalated when the 28-year-old man hugged the 33-year-old man’s mom and then left the scene.

“Please remember to use words, not snow shovels, to solve your winter blues,” said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

Following one of the more bizarre incidents you will hear about this winter, no criminal charges are expected to be pursued.
