Police in the Interior are investigating following an alleged incident that happened in Buffalo Creek this week.
According to RCMP, on Tuesday at 12:03 am, officers were called to reports of shots being fired in the Bisset Road area, just off Canim-Hendrix Lake Road. Witnesses claimed to hear several gun shots being fired followed by a loud scream and threat, which led to additional shots.
Shortly after, two vehicles fled the location. One on-duty officer and a supervisor attended the event, though they found no evidence of a shootout.
"One officer completed a vehicle stop with a similar vehicle seen leaving the location, but after stopping briefly, the vehicle fled from Police," said S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen. "Upon arrival at the scene, three persons were detained and the property was searched for any injured person."
The three detained suspects were released a short time later.
"Later that same day in the morning, RCMP re-attended to the property in an attempt to locate the other individuals who had fled and ensure their well-being. No other parties were located and no further evidence of an event occurring there was located on the property, the roadway or properties near that location based on observations from the roadway."
When things looked like they were drying up, police received a call that the grey vehicle, which fled earlier in the day, had been abandoned on a driveway on Tatton Station Road. It was seized for further examination.
Evidence led investigators to the idea that a single female left the vehicle.
"The initial investigators were able to locate the other person(s) who normally lived at that residence and ensure their well-being. They were not cooperative with the Police investigation."
"As is the case with these events on occasion, Police believe something has occurred, but no evidence has indicated what happened and all witnesses or people involved are safe but remain uncooperative with the Police investigation. RCMP believes whatever occurred involves a small group of individuals and that there is no further risk to public safety at this time."
