Environment Canada (EC) has issued a snowfall warning for much of southeast British Columbia and that includes a major stretch of highway.

Around 10-20 centimetres of “heavy snow” is expected to fall on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) around Revelstoke today.

The conditions will be the worst around Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass.

EC notes that the wintry weather will be courtesy of an arctic front that’s moving across the eastern part of the province today.

Motorists are urged to adjust their driving to the changing road conditions as the rapidly-accumulating snow could make travel difficult in places.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” EC added. “Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
