UPDATE: Death of 2 people in Osoyoos appears to be ‘tragic murder-suicide’, police say

(UPDATE: Oct. 28 @ 2:00pm): Police are still investigating after two dead bodies were found in the South Okanagan. 

Last night, Osoyoos RCMP responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint in a rural area northwest of Osoyoos. 

The car belonged to a resident in the 9000 block of 115 Street in Osoyoos, when police arrived at the home they discovered a deceased individual.

A second body was found shortly after in the vicinity of the abandoned car. 

“Through the course of the investigations, officers have determined that the two deceased individuals were known to each other, and that there is no threat to public safety,” said Sgt. Jason Bayda of the Osoyoos RCMP. 

This incident appears to be a tragic murder-suicide within a family unit.” 

No further information will be released as the RCMP and the BC Coroners service work through the remainder of the investigation.


(ORIGINAL STORY: Oct. 27 @ 5:10pm): Southeast District Major Crime with the assistance of the South Okanagan RCMP is now investigating the discovery of two bodies in Osoyoos.

Police have determined that the pair were known to each other. 

With the discovery, officers say that there is no threat to public safety. 

The investigation is still in the early stages and more information will be released at a later time pending next of kin notification.
