Interior Health is advising Merritt and area residents that the emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital will be temporarily closed.

Due to limited physician availability, the emergency department will be closed from 8 am July 4 until 8 am July 5.

In the event of an emergency, residents are asked to call 911 or visit the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops or the Kelowna General Hospital.

If unsure of your need to seek emergency care, call HealthLink BC 811, a 24-hour service.

Interior Health regrets this temporary change to normal operations and apologizes for the temporary interruption to normal services.
