An impulse decision to play the Keno bonus made a Sorrento man a lot of money earlier this month.

Glenn Welschlau was playing at the Copper Island Pub on Sept. 2 when he hit the jackpot.

The retired man says he rarely plays the bonus, but decided to give it a try on that day and he’s certainly glad he did, because it won him $100,000.

“At first I thought I had won $35,000,” Welschlau explained.

“I didn’t have my glasses on and I thought I only saw two times the bonus. My friend turned to me and said that it was seven times the bonus. I started to lose it.”

After winning he immediately called his wife, who didn’t believe him until he put her on speaker and let her hear all the celebratory excitement in the background.

Welschlau said he feels “happy” after the big win and has already purchased a new Jeep with some of the money.

He’s now got his eye on new gutters for his house and a 75-inch television.
