Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 in BC and no new deaths on Tuesday.
The latest data arrives after the province recorded 20 or more cases of the disease for five straight days.
"We've had more than we're used to seeing in the last few days. This is not unexpected," Dr. Henry acknowledged in her daily briefing.
Dr. Henry also confirmed that the Kelowna exposure event has resulted in 17 confirmed cases spanning from June 25 to July 9, but not all of those cases reside within the Interior Health region.
"A group of people who knew each other met up in Kelowna, with members of the group being from Alberta, the Lower Mainland and the Interior Health region," explained Dr. Henry.
However, officials stopped short of telling people to stay home, maintaining that people can still go out and visit businesses as long as they don't have symptoms and wash their hands.
Commenting on Interior Health's second exposure incident at Krazy Cherry Fruit Co. in Oliver, where two employees have tested positive, Dr. Henry reiterated that food is not a source of transmission for the virus.
There are 209 people with active cases of the illness, of whom 14 are in hospital, including five in intensive care.
