In the first public address since the BC Day long weekend, health officials reported 146 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths.
There are now 319 active cases in the province, an increase of 41 since Friday.
"This was not unexpected," said Henry of the large number of new cases.
The source of the new cases vary but are connected to exposure events up to two weeks ago, meaning the majority of cases are related to have happened before the weekend.
Eight COVID-19 patients are in hospital, five of those are in the Fraser Health region, one in the Interior Health region and two in the Vancouver Coastal health region.
That's three more people than were in hospital to begin the long weekend, but 141 less than the at the peak of the pandemic in early April.
Much of the growth in new cases stems from an ongoing outbreak in Kelowna connected with private parties that were held over the Canada Day long weekend.
However, Interior Health only reported nine new cases between Friday and Tuesday.
Dr. Bonnie Henry also reported 74 cases are now connected to an outbreak at a Fraser Valley fruit-packing plant.
