On Tuesday, BC health officials reported 217 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the past 24-hours.
According to the BC Centre for Disease Control, a total of 5,157 tests were administered to detect those cases.
There are now 2,322 active cases across the province, with a total of 5,101 people under active public health monitoring.
Currently, 84 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, up 15 from last Tuesday, with 18 patients in intensive or critical care.
No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded.
With less than a week to go before Halloween night, Dr. Bonnie Henry has implemented a new health order limiting private household gatherings.
Effective immediately, gatherings are limited to those living in the house plus six others.
“A mask is especially helpful in public indoor spaces where you don’t know the people around you and the risks they may have," said officials in a written statement.
“The expectation is that masks will be worn within public areas of health-care facilities, shopping malls, grocery stores, community centres and other public spaces – as you enter, exit and move around.
“Public indoor spaces are quite different from our schools, offices and businesses that have established learning groups and work cohorts, supported by comprehensive COVID-19 safety plans."
Earlier on Monday, Canada reached the grim milestone of 10,000 deaths connected to the COVID−19 pandemic.
