Health officials have announced that a total of 499 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded over the weekend.
From Friday to Saturday 172 cases were identified, between Saturday and Sunday 153 cases were reported and another 174 cases were confirmed from Sunday to Monday.
Over that same time period, two COVID-19 related deaths were recorded, one in the Vancouver Coastal Health region and another in the Fraser Health region.
BC now has 1,639 active cases, with 67 people in hospital, 19 of whom are in critical or intensive care.
On Sunday, Fraser Health declared new outbreaks of COVID-19 at the J&L Beef Ltd meat processing facility in Surrey, BC where 13 people have tested positive for the illness so far.
"One can say that we are in our second wave, but we have control over what it looks like," said Dr. Bonnie Henry on Monday.
"We have seen that COVID-19 is able to hide and spread in our communities."
However, Henry also said that BC isn't seeing exponential growth, hospitalizations have stabilized and hot spots are being contained to the most populated areas such as the Lower Mainland.
Earlier on Monday, federal Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said the Canada-US land border would remain closed to all non-essential travel until at least Nov. 21.
