Dr. Bonnie Henry announced today that British Columbia recorded another 2,174 cases of COVID-19 over the three-day weekend reporting period.
That included 596 cases on Saturday, as well as lower case counts of 605 and 558 on Sunday and today respectively.
Here’s the breakdown of where those cases were identified:
- Vancouver Coastal Health - 325 cases
- Fraser Health - 1,201cases
- Island Health - 50 cases
- Interior Health - 131 cases
- Northern Health - 52 cases
Health officials also reported 20 new COVID-19 deaths in the province over the past 72 hours.
Of those, 15 were people over the age of 70, three were over the age of 50 and two people were in their 40s.
BC has now administered 2,159,103 COVID-19 vaccines, with more than 2 million British Columbians having received one dose of the vaccine.
There are currently 415 people in hospital fighting the virus, down 30 patients from Friday, with 150 people in ICU.
As of Monday evening, everyone 40 years of age and older will be able to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
Henry acknowledged that the vaccination program has brought BC to "a better place in this pandemic" but that currently provincial health orders will not be lifted before the end of the month.
