BC reports 457 new cases and 2 deaths

British Columbia is reporting 457 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 4,829. 

Of the new/active cases this is where they are coming from in each region:


There are currently 390 people in hospital with 155 of those individuals in intensive care. 

Of the 155 people in intensive care, 133 of those people are unvaccinated. 

In the past 24 hours, two new deaths have been reported in the Fraser Health and Northern Health region. This brings the provincial pandemic death toll to 2,131. 


The outbreak at Evergreen Manor in Fraser Health has been declared over, but there are still 28 active outbreaks at healthcare facilities across BC.

Since December, the province has administered 8,171,136 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

The Government of British Columbia announced this afternoon that those who have had their first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible for a booster shot in mid-January. Read the full article here. 

Of the eligible people 12 and older in BC, 89.6% (4,155,181) have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 84.5% (3,918,385) have received their second dose.

From the eligible adults in BC, 90.1% (3,896,273) have received their first dose and 85.2% (3,683,380) have received their second dose.
