BC reports 7 new COVID related deaths and 722 additional cases

BC health officials reported 722 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, along with seven additional deaths. 

Of the new cases, 115 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 523 were in the Fraser Health region, 20 were in Island Health, 38 were in Interior Health, and 26 were in Northern Health

There remain 445 people in hospital, a decrease of 12 since Thursday, but three more people are in the intensive care unit, for a total of 157.

BC currently has 6,757 active cases of the virus, down from the 7,886 recorded last Friday.

So far, 2,042,442 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, with 99,461 of those being second doses.

The province says 45% of those who are eligible have received at least one dose.

Currently, anyone 18 and older in British Columbia can register for their vaccination now if they have not already done so.

People in BC aged 49 and above can now receive a vaccine.
