On Tuesday, 49 new cases of COVID-19 marked a grim new record for Interior Health, but it didn’t last long.

Interior Health reported 70 new cases of the virus in today’s daily update.

It brings the total number of cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 1,426.

Currently, 336 of those are active.

Given the low hospitalization numbers for IH to date, there was also a noticeable spike in that department today.

Three more people were admitted to hospital due to COVID-19, bringing that total up to five currently hospitalized.

There were no new outbreaks or changes to existing outbreaks in the BC Interior today.
