A recent surge of cases, as well as school-related exposures and outbreaks, in the BC Interior has produced the region’s highest ever daily total of COVID-19 cases.

Interior Health recorded 24 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

The previous record for the health authority was 20 cases in a day, which happened twice in July.

The 24 new cases brings the region over 700 total cases since the start of the pandemic, as the total is now 717.

Currently, 92 cases are active and one person is in hospital from the virus.

The École de L’Anse-au-sable outbreak remains active and there are 15 cases linked to it, with 175 people currently self-isolating for 14 days.

There are now two confirmed cases at Kelowna Secondary School, while a new exposure has been identified at St. Joseph Elementary School on Sutherland Avenue.
