Interior Health reports 43 new cases of COVID-19

An additional 43 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the BC Interior over the past 24 hours.

It brings the region's total number of cases to 12,945 since the pandemic started, with 333 current active cases. 

There are currently 16 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the BC Interior, with seven in critical care. 

There were no deaths reported in the BC Interior due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 

On a lighter note the vaccine program continues to administer thousands of doses. With 10, 654 BC Interior residents receiving shots since Wednesday. 

“As our immunization program progresses, we are closely watching how the vaccines are working here in BC, and to date, all are proving to be highly effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and reducing new cases and outbreaks.” says Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix in a joint statement this afternoon.

There are currently no active outbreaks in the BC Interior.
