Effective immediately, Interior Health has suspended its temporary testing site in downtown Kelowna.

It initially opened at IH’s Community Health Services Centre on Monday, Aug. 3 and was supposed to be in place for two weeks.

However, with the number of new cases of COVID-19 stabilizing again in Kelowna, the second testing site was no longer necessary.

The testing centre at the Kelowna Urgent and Primary Care Centre, located in the parking lot of the Capri Centre, is once again the only place in town to be tested for the virus.

It’s by appointment only from 9:30 am until 8:30 pm seven days a week for any individuals who have symptoms, however mild they may be.

"There is capacity at the Kelowna UPCC site to accommodate the current demand for testing,” said a release from IH.

“If required, expanded COVID-19 testing capacity can be quickly re-activated in the community.”

As a reminder, symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.

Milder symptoms include a runny nose, fatigue, body aches, diarrhea, headache, sore throat, vomiting and red eyes.
