The number of COVID-19 cases continues to trend upwards in the BC Interior, new weekly data show.
In the March 28–April 3 breakdown provided by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), significant increases can be seen in Kamloops, the Central Okanagan, Vernon, Revelstoke and elsewhere compared to the previous week.
In the Central Okanagan, cases have gone from 141 to 214.
Kamloops had 30 cases in the March 21–27 data, but that has grown to 48 in the latest figures.
Vernon has gone from 21 to 33, Revelstoke from 18 to 25, Windermere from three to 24, Fernie from eight to 13 and Enderby from four to 11.
There is some good news, however, with Merritt going from 22 to six and Penticton dropping from 19 to 16.
Yesterday the province reported 1,068 new positive cases of the virus, with two more deaths.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonny Henry also said there were 330 people in hospital with the virus and a record 106 being treated in intensive care.
In the Interior, another 91 cases were confirmed yesterday.
The health authority also confirmed there were 21 people in hospital with the virus in the Interior, with eight of them in critical care.
There have been 9,083 confirmed cases in the Interior overall, with 717 still active.
