The number of COVID-19 infections is trending downwards in the Interior’s largest population centres, new data show.
The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has released the latest figures on community-specific cases, which cover the week of April 18–24.
Compared with figures from April 11–17, the Central Okanagan’s case total declined from 288 to 215, Kamloops went from 96 to 46 and Vernon from 56 to 36.
Other population areas fared as follows:

In the Golden area, meanwhile, cases have surged – from just one to 15.
Arrow Lakes, too, saw a large increase, going from zero to five.
BC as a whole yesterday reported record numbers of people in hospital – and ICU – with COVID-19.
Health officials said 515 are in hospital, with 171 in intensive care.
The Interior region recorded 36 people in hospital, including 20 in critical care.
Interior Health also said there were 74 new cases registered yesterday.
