There have been some increases in COVID-19 case numbers across the BC Interior, but the overall picture remains positive.
In the latest data – covering July 11–17 – the region’s population centres have logged small increases in reported cases compared with July 4–10’s figures.
Grand Forks, meanwhile, has at last logged a decrease in new cases – coming down to four cases, compared with previous data showing 21 cases.
It has been replaced as BC’s COVID-19 hotspot by Castlegar, which recorded nine new cases in the latest figures.
Other highlights from the numbers include:

Central Okanagan: 53 cases (up from 42 cases)

Kamloops: 11 cases (up from 6)

Penticton: 0 cases (unmoved from 0)

Vernon: 11 cases (unmoved from 11)

Enderby: 0 cases (down from 4)

Castlegar: 9 cases (up from 2)

Grand Forks: 4 cases (down from 21)

Nelson: 10 cases (up from 3)
As has become normal in recent weeks, large stretches of the Interior remain free of new cases altogether.
On an even more local level, Enderby appears to be trailing behind in vaccination rates as Kamloops Centre South surges ahead.
As of July 19, 59% of people over 12 in Enderby had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In Kamloops Centre South, the proportion is 82%.
Castlegar has the highest average daily rate of new cases per 100,000 people.
It’s up to 18, while Summerland’s rate is also quite high at nine.
In the Central Okanagan, it’s three; in Kamloops, two.
