Over the past week, the 7 pm salute has become a staple in Vancouver and beyond.
Residents will take to their balconies, front porches or simply open their windows to join in on a community cheer of gratitude for our frontline healthcare workers as they undergo a shift change.
It continues to grow bigger and louder and over the past couple days, police officers and firefighters have added another special wrinkle to the celebration.
On Wednesday night, emergency crews in New Westminster drove by Royal Columbian Hospital at 7 pm, blaring their sirens and flashing their lights.
Just 24 hours later, emergency crews in North Vancouver did the exact same thing while driving past Lions Gate Hospital at 7 pm.
Even ambulance drivers joined in on the tribute, which was caught on camera and shared to Facebook by fellow EMT Nadia van Dee.
There’s no doubt that the world is going through trying times, but to see various communities come together in different ways has been truly special.
We can only hope it continues.
