Customers will soon be required to wear a mask when entering a Walmart in Canada.

Beginning Aug. 12, masks will be mandatory at all stores for customers and employees, regardless of whether the province or city requires them in public places.

Walmart confirmed the announcement via email to NowMedia on Thursday, adding that “over 60%of our more than 400 stores are in regions of the country where there is some form of local government mandate on face coverings.”

All associates within the store will also be subject to temperature checks at the start of each shift and the number of customers allowed in at one time will be limited.

BC’s top health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has maintained that masks are strongly recommended in public places, however, has stopped short of making masking mandatory.
