If you're heading up to the Armstrong region Tuesday, you might want to plan an alternate route. According to DriveBC, Highway 31 will be closed in both directions from Beaton, Armstrong to approximately ten kilometres north of Beaton, from 1:00 p.m. through until 3:00 p.m due to avalanche control.

If you work or live in the Revelstoke to Armstrong region, it's a good idea to plan for an alternative route on Tuesday afternoon. Check DriveBC before you head out for highway closures and updates.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain District has been hard at work maintaining the highways to ensure safe passage throughout the Interior. On Monday, the Kootenay Pass on Highway 3 was closed for a few hours due to avalanche control.

Just for fun, check out how avalanche control works. B.C. Transportation posted this video on double avalanche control last February.
