A new charity soccer tournament will take place in Kelowna to raise more funds for Ronald McDonald House BC.

The TRUE Consulting Charity Soccer Tournament will take place on May 22nd and 23rd at the Capital News Centre with all funds raised going to the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon. Registration is now open, with an event entry fee of $1,000.

This exciting new event is spearheaded by the organizers of the annual TRUE Consulting Hockey Tournament, which also takes place May 22nd to 23rd. Since its inception in 2008, this highly popular hockey tournament has raised and donated over $160,000 to RMH BC, funding over 2,100 nights of accommodation for families who must travel to Vancouver for their child’s major medical treatment.

Following a competitive tendering process which closed on February 27, EMCO Corporation, one of Canada's largest distributors of plumbing products for the construction industry, emerged the winner in securing the lifetime naming rights to the TRUE Tourney's indoor soccer trophy with a $10,250.00 donation to Ronald McDonald House BC.

“It is hard to imagine what families must go through when they find out that their child is seriously ill,” said Kevin Wall, Operations Manager of EMCO. “That is why a place like Ronald McDonald House is so important - not only do they provide somewhere for families to stay but they also provide a great environment where kids can get better. We are so pleased to be able to support such a great event and wonderful cause.”

In June 2014, Ronald McDonald House BC opened its new home on the grounds of BC Children’s Hospital. Built to LEED Gold Standard, the new 73-room House includes indoor and outdoor playing areas, a fitness centre, teen lounge, and more. The new House can provide accommodation for over 2,500 families in need every year, compared to the 400 they could previously serve.
