It was a tasty and sugar-filled grand opening Saturday in Kelowna.

Dolicious Donuts Express held their grand opening Saturday at Town Centre Mall, welcoming members of the public to come sample of the donut creations and play carnival games.

The grand opening also unveiled the world's largest apple fritter. The pasty weighed a total of 14.13 lb (6.41 kg) and measured 24” x 18”.

Dolicious is a locally owned and operated business that has been making pastry in the Okanagan for over 40 years. Their artisan donuts are made from scratch daily, with no added preservatives to any products.

Members of Kelowna city council were on hand to serve up samples to those who were shopping in Town Centre Mall, allowing customers to try a mini glazed donut.

The opening day event was also a chance for Dolicious to fundraise for Inspire Health, a non-profit society that is leading in integrative cancer care.

Last year, Dolicious made international headlines when it unveiled a $100 donut that was made with edible diamonds, 24KT gold, aged chocolate balsamic vinegar, along with a list of other tasty ingredients.
