Residents and visitors in Lake Country will soon enjoy free public WiFi thanks to an agreement with the District and Shaw Communications.

The partnership will give those in Lake Country free Shaw Go WiFi guest access, as well as complimentary access to Shaw subscribers. There will be a number of WiFi access points installed throughout the community in the coming months, including the Town Centre, Municipal Hall, and public parks.

“Free WiFi access throughout Lake Country’s public spaces will be a benefit to residents and visitors,” said Mayor James Baker. “The collaboration between Shaw and the District represents a positive step in Lake Country’s on-going efforts to be a connected, progressive and innovative community. Council views Shaw Go WiFi as another important service being offered to residents – with the added benefit of being provided at no cost to the municipality.”

People will be able to access the Shaw Go WiFi network on their WiFi enabled device by selecting ‘ShawGuest’ from the list of available internet connections. On-screen instructions will help users connect to the internet.

With 75,000 active hot spots, Shaw Go WiFi is Canada’s largest WiFi network accessed across Western Canada. A full list of locations is available at www.shaw.ca/wifi or by downloading the Shaw Go WiFi Finder App.
