Monday morning commuters will be in for some changes, as Phase 2 of the active transportation corridor improvements begins in Kelowna.

Beginning at 7a.m. on Monday, Ethel Street between Stockwell Avenue and Cawston Avenue will be closed. East-west cross streets within the construction zone, including Fuller and Wilson Avenues, will also be closed due to the installation of deep utilities.

Phase 2 of the active transportation corridor will include separated cycle tracks on both sides of the road, new sidewalks and landscaping, along with utility improvements.

Drivers are being asked obey traffic signs and safety personnel during construction, as well, pedestrians and cyclists are being encouraged to take an alternate route due to uneven surfaces.

The project is anticipated to be completed in October.
