After receiving evacuation orders for close to 100 residences on Monday, Holiday Park Resort along Hwy 97 in Lake Country is worried they have yet to see the worst of the Okanagan's extensive flooding.

"It has never flooded in this way or this much, we are in brand new territory," said Owner Dan Sigal.

Bordering on the still rising Duck Lake and adjacent to the overflowing Middle Vernon Creek, the resort is dealing with flooded condos, a flooded sewage system and is beginning to worry about access as water is now covering Commonwealth Road.

"We've possibly lost our golf course for good, we have trucks pumping the sewage and taking it away," explained Sigal.

"We're sandbagging on a constant basis trying to protect the other condo building, the RV sites and our Recreation Centre."

With more rain forecast in the Central Okanagan for Thursday, it's likely the resort has yet to see the worst of the flooding either.

"The river that comes in behind the resort is flowing now even harder than it did when it started, which is why we don't see it getting better anytime soon," said Sigal.

"Unfortunately, it's not the time to come to Holiday Park."

While the resort is limping, it's still functioning with close to a 1000 people still on site and the support from the community and emergency crews has been excellent according to Sigal.

"The resort has had tremendous support from owners here, visitors, the Lake Country fire department, Kelowna's emergency services, everyone has been very supportive."

Currently, Holiday Park is encouraging potential guests to make alternative plans but hopes to be back on its feet and fully functioning within a month.
