An erratic driving complaint has led to a stolen boat and trailer being located more than 100 kilometres from where it was stolen.

RCMP in Kelowna pulled over the white Dodge pickup truck, which was hauling a 21-foot Searay Sport boat, along Glenmore Drive on Thursday evening.

Police positively identified the driver and detected signs of alcohol intoxication, which led to the driver being detained for the purpose of conducting an impaired driving investigation.

“RCMP remain committed to removing impaired drivers from our roadways, says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP. We continue to encourage motorist to report erratic, dangerous and potential impaired drivers to police, when safe to do so.”

Further investigation at the scene led officers to discover that the boat and trailer were stolen from a resort on Mara Lake near Sicamous back in May.

The drover, a 30-year-old Kelowna man, was then taken to the Kelowna RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit.

He faces several potential charges and was held in police custody to appear in Kelowna Law Courts.
